Forced to grow up fast and make sense of the chaos around me at home, drawing and painting served as my gateway to a new reality. Wherever I wanted to be, whatever I wanted to feel, whatever I wanted to see, I drew it. My art now relies heavily on symbols of my childhood and Latine culture, as well as the push and pull of life itself— of dark vs light, the sacred vs the vulgar, beauty vs the grotesque. Tasteful irreverence is always the goal.
